Today was my first sacred valley side quest. I took a colectivo to a town about 2 hours north of Cusco called Ollantaytambo. I actually loved it there. If I was more fluent in spanish and knew how to drive a motorcycle I’d bail on my coming the trek and bike-pack through the sacred valley for 2 weeks.

There’s two major Incan sites in Ollantaytambo. I only visited one of them, which is called Ollantaytambo:

The other site is on the mountain on the other side of the town. It’s called Pinkuylluna. I was planning on going there, but I loved the atmosphere of the town so much I ended up just hanging out in town instead.

As for tomorrow. I was originally planning on taking a colectivo out to Pisac for another sacred valley side quest. Still might, but for the trek I need a bunch of 10 and 20 denomination sole notes, because I doubt people in tiny tiny villages that don’t have roads and don’t get very many visitors have the funds to break large bills. Sadly, the currency exchange spot gave me buches of 100 sole notes, and it’s been hard getting places around cusco to break them. Most people insist on taking my already small supply of small bills. Might have to go to a bank to see if I can break them there, though I have no idea how that works here.
