So today not a whole lot happened except aimless wondering. I figured out a few places that might be interesting to go, but there were apparently a bunch of landslides that happened in March, and there’s heavy road construction blocking my access to those places. So, I aimlessly wandered.

Some notes about aimless wandering in rural peru. Most vehicle bridges are single lane and meant for vehicles only (excuse the blurryness. I had sprayed mosquito repellant on the lens without realizing it):

There’s almost always a pedestrian bridge next to the vehicle bridge. I took my chances on the vehicle bridge…:

The area around here is “sort’ve jungle, but not really”. There are a bunch of banana trees though. First time I’ve ever seen a banana tree with fruit.

Santa Teresa is divided up into upper and lower parts. I’m staying in the upper part.

I learned today that most of the trekkers who pass through here apparently stay in the lower part.

I don’t know what this river is called. I comes down from Collpapampa. If I hadn’t bailed on my trek I would’ve been hiking along side it for the past two days.

Not much else exploring I can do around here on foot, sadly. So. I ate. There are definitely restaurants here, and the food is good.

Also, Peru is winning on plastic reduction. Coke in 1 liter GLASS bottles!
