Really didn’t do much today. Went to a breakfast buffet and then walked around. Found better viewpoints than the ones tourists get told about.
Also really curious if this was once an Olympic city. Haven’t looked it up yet, but the giant Olympic rings would be puzzling otherwise.
Also walked around looking at random churches.
Then I found a place called alpaca world, or mundo alpaca. It’s basically an alpaca petting zoo attached to a ridiculously overpriced clothing boutique. But petting the alpacas was free.
Spent some time sitting around random parks. That really seems to be a thing in South America that definitely isn’t a thing in the US. Noticed it in Chile too. People just go to parks and spend hours sitting on benches doing nothing but sitting on benches. Was actually nice for me, since I walked about 15 miles today, to have the ability to plop my ass down for a while between walking.
Didn’t really do anything else today.
Tomorrow morning, early, I head back down to the vicinity of the bus terminal and get myself a colectivo to Chivay, and from Chivay get another Colectivo to Cabanaconde on the rim of the Colca canyon. All told it’ll be 8-10 hours of transport, so I really do want to be out of here really early so it’s still daylight when I arrive there. So packing before bed, and early to bed tonight.
