Nov 17 2024 – Zamphuti to Lukla
Made it back to Lukla. The irony is my body seems to have finally adapted to where I am. The first day of the trek kicked by ass, even though it was more or less all downhill. Today was the reverse of that, all uphill, and I more or less just bounced my way up no problem.

Tomorrow I fly out of here. I took a helicopter up, but I’ll be taking an airplane down. The airport is billed as the most dangerous airport on earth. That seems to be more of a theoretical conception of danger than based upon an actual body count. Pretty much every major airport in the US has a higher body count. But, because of how the airport here is laid out a flight maneuver called a “go around” isn’t possible. So pilots are essentially fully committed to take offs and landings, come what may.
