Nov 7 2024 – Lobouche Day 2

Last night after dinner I played cards for a while with a girl from Germany and a guy from Israel and then I went to bed. Woke up a few hours later with a pounding headache and a powerful wave of nausea overtook me. Ended up vomiting in the wastebasket in my room.

PulseOx said my SpO2 was 71%. I don’t need to be a doctor to know that the altitude sickness came and got me. Time to start taking the Diamox I bought in Namche.

Told the teahouse owner I needed to stay another night, and mostly just napped off and on all day. Energy was not something I had in any sort of abundance. Did get up and go outside a few times and walked a little way north of the village to stretch my legs.

An apatite also isn’t something I had in abundance today. Managed to keep down a couple candy bars, but I wasn’t really hungry at all. I did discover if you don’t show up for dinner the teahouse owners will come knock on your door to find out why.

We’ll see how I’m feeling tomorrow. I do have extra days in to play with if need be, so my options are if I’m feeling worse I head down, no change I stay here, better I head up.
